SUMMER HOLS

You may prefer to start your summer holidays on a Sunday because a Saturday start is a bit of a rush or you want to avoid the heavy traffic. If so we have some houses where you can arrive on Sunday for six or seven nights. View the availability calendars pages to check booking details.

PAY BY CARD

Instead of paying by cheque or p/o, if you have a UK debit or credit card and an e-mail address, you can pay the deposit for your holiday using the online NOCHEX facility. You can send up to £100. (All deposits to reserve a holiday are £100 or less.) There are no charges and no sign-up is needed. Once we receive your booking, we send you a response & request e-mail which confirms the booking and states the amount to pay. You are then directed to a secure page within the "Nochex" system. You can either select this option on the booking form or ask for this if you contact us directly.

EARLY SPRING/SUMMER IN PEMBROKESHIRE

This is a very colourful time of year with lots of flowers out on hedgerows and along the coast. The lilies at Bosherston Pools are in bloom in June, while puffins, razorbills, etc make an early summer appearance on nearby islands, most of which can be visited by boat. Many of the family attractions in the area have undercover facilities for when the weather is not so favourable.

TRANSPORT

A special bus service called the "Coastal Cruiser" operates along the county's south west coast and passes through Freshwater East on a circular route based at Pembroke Dock. The bus can carry surf boards, bikes & wheelchairs.

During the summer the walled area within Tenby is pedestrianised in order to provide a "cafe culture" atmosphere. From early July to early Sept park & ride facilities are provided from two car parks on the approaches to the town centre.

ACCESS

Nearly all the coast path is freely accessible all the time. However at the army ranges at Castlemartin there are restrictions. The eastern part is normally open at weekends (the local paper gives firing times). The western section is only open to special accompanied groups and climbers with permits. The national park authority provides guided walks through this area on certain days.

The national cycle trail, route 4, passes through Lamphey. From there, going east, it reaches Tenby and then it's mostly offroad to Amroth via the coastal tunnels. Going west, it reaches Pembroke and then all of it is offroad to Haverfordwest via the Haven Bridge, with an offroad spur to Milford Haven nearly completed. From the X-roads at the top of Fresh'east a vehicle-free track meets the national trail at Lamphey. Mind you, getting up to the X-roads from the beacharea is a bit of a challenge!

Depending on the tide, boats sail either from Tenby harbour or from the beach to the south, starting at 10 am. The island is open to visitors Mon.- Fri. from Easter to October, and Sat. from May to Sep. but closed on Sundays.
